What is so amazing about watches these days is how they have so many features that we take for granted. Take the Harry Winston replica watch for example. Prior to the 1950s a watch didn’t even have a battery! You had to wind the watch with a button on the side of the watch. Every morning as you woke, you had to remember to wind your watch and if you didn’t it would stop working. This was very frustrating to the watch wearer and eventually in around 1950 the Hamilton Watch manufacturing company launched the first watch to have battery powered assistance which meant the watch no longer had to be wound every day.
This was an extraordinary invention and people were most impressed.
These days at the rate of invention, innovation and change it doesn’t seem to be much of a big thing at all but if you think that these things are not important then think about it this way. If it hadn’t been for those inventions being made on what seemed like a small scale now we could not have all the amazing devices that we experience today.
It wasn’t too many years later after the self-winding or battery powered watches were released that the first digital watch appeared on the market. This happened around 1970 and again the world was amazed at the intelligence of this tiny invention. Maybe the digital watch is why we have so many amazing electronic devices to enjoy today.
Many say that the watch is a thing of the past and that the mobile phone, iphone and ipads, etc will soon replace the watch but could you ever say that you would not want to have a nice watch on your wrist ever again?
Jewelry is always in existence and like the diamond ring, bracelet and necklace a watch is not just a piece of functional equipment that can so easily be replaced. It is stylish and chic to have and own a wrist watch. The more antique or vintage styles will once again come back into vogue and what seems out of date in the 1960s or 1970s will once again come back into fashion.
